Colonel Littleton designed our belt collection with more than a nod to the military and sportsman’s tradition. When the belt first came out, the general reaction was “Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?”
The uniqueness of this collection of belts is in its’ adjusting feature. The traditional front buckle belt allows only three inches of fluctuation. Colonel’s belt adds another 8 inches, adjusting in one-inch increments. This means that one size fits almost everyone, which also makes it a great gift item.
Here’s how it works. Rather than adjusting and readjusting the belt in the front and messing up the leather, you park it in the middle position, where it belongs, and make any necessary adjustments on the side. That way if you have on bulkier trousers, a heavyweight shirt, or layers for warmth… if you lose a few pounds or, heaven forbid, gain a few… your belt accommodates all these variations nicely.
Colonel chose sturdy Italian Bridle Leather for these belts which is perfect since it resists stretching. This heavier leather comes from a tannery in Santa Croce Sull’Arno, Italy. Aside from being one of the most functional and practical belt collections on the market, this collection looks uncommonly good… especially with khakis and jeans, for which it was designed.
The No. 1 Belt is available in Brown Italian Bridle Leather with Solid Brass hardware or Nickel finish hardware. 1 3/16”W. Made in our Col. Littleton Workshop, Lynnville, TN USA.

We are committed to producing quality, handcrafted products that showcase our time-honored standards of excellence and deep respect for the Americana tradition. Col. Littleton products go through rigorous testing and numerous quality inspections before being shipped to our customers. Should you receive a Col. Littleton product that is defective in materials or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right. Our guarantee is limited to the cost of the product itself. It also does not cover normal wear and tear. We feel if you just plain “wore it out,” you got your money’s worth. Also, we cannot be responsible for an item which has suffered through alteration, damage due to improper cleaning, improper use, mishandling or accident. If we made a mistake in personalizing your product or if the product is defective in materials or workmanship, of course we’ll replace it. Otherwise, personalized products are not returnable.
Leather is a passion for me. There are more kinds of leather and leather processing out there than you can shake a stick at. You can mold leather into just about any shape or form. You can make every hide look just alike. You can dye it green, blue or even pink. You can apply a finish, coat it, spray it or make it look slick and shiny. That’s not what we’re about at Col. Littleton. To me the beauty is in the naturalness of the leather. People always comment to me about the special “feel” of our leather and how it becomes even more beautiful after it has some wear on it. It’s all about our leather process. When you buy Col. Littleton leather goods, you’re buying, for the most part, full-grain American vegetable-tanned steerhide that has received a minimum of alteration. We don’t apply a finish to hide character markings. The way I see it, every marking tells a story and covering them robs the piece of its life and character.
I see a real resurgence in the country today for products made in America. Our focus is to design and create products that speak to the time-honored traditions that have made this country great such as handmade craftsmanship, authentic rich leathers and quality workmanship. There’s a nostalgic feel about the products we make . . . most of them could have been made 100 years ago and many are made using turn-of-the-20th-century methodology and machinery. Our products are true Americana; forged as our forefathers intended by people who care and take pride in making a beautiful product.

I just bought one of these magnificent belts to replace one than was 35 years old and had ripped. It probably wouldn’t even have ripped if I had cared for it. This product is not only beautiful and extremely durable, but well made. I can’t throw out the old so I may turn it into keychains or something.
Dan, we’re glad your first belt served you well for so many years and hope your new one lasts even longer! We appreciate your support and kind review. We’d love to see what you do with the old belt!
So I bought the wrong, right belt. That is to say, I selected the incorrect product.
The packaging, and attention to small detail is superb. The quality of the belt is excellent, and rather than return it because I messed up. I am keeping it, and ordering the correct one this go around.
Hi Andre! We hope you weren’t too disappointed when your package was not what you were expecting but we also hope you end up loving your No. 1 Belt anyway! Thank you for your support and kind review. We’re grateful to have you in the Col. Littleton community!
I’ve owned this belt for well over 25 years. In a word, it’s “perfect”.
They don’t make things better than this belt. I expect that I have a solid 50 years left before I replace it. It will probably outlive me.
Very well done Col!
Rob, thank you for taking the time to leave this stellar review 25 years later! We’re thrilled to hear that your belt has served you well so far! We appreciate your support.
